[New Article] Calling it quits: a longitudinal study of factors associated with dropout among doctoral students.

Joeri Minnen 19 February 2024

This article investigates weather and how experiences of the PhD trajectory during the first year of enrolment predict dropout during a later stage. More specifically and informed by the Job Demands-Resources model, the VUB studied how received support from the supervisor (job resource), time pressure (job demand) and passion for the research (personal resource) relate to dropout among PhD students. The VUB also assessed the moderating role of discipline in this process.
