A look at time for everyone

With the launch of www.tijdsonderzoek.be we are able to provide an overview of the way the population of Flanders spends its time for a large group of interested parties: journalists, students, researchers, marketeers, you and me – and so on.

Make your own tables

Users of the website can use tables that they make themselves to reveal the way the people of Flanders spend their time on a daily and weekly basis. They can also subdivide the time into a number of relevant background characteristics. There is an entry-level mode for the beginner and an export mode for the experienced investigator. Users of the expert mode will have to register via the website.

Information about the survey

Visitors can obtain more information about the MOTUS survey via the menu buttons. This is where they will find a brief manual about the website. More information about the survey method used, the diary, variables, the activity list, etc. is also available.

Three time measurements

The web tool not only provides information about the latest population survey from 2013, but also about the previous two studies from 1999 and 2004.

The 2013 survey was run via the MOTUS software platform and gathered data from 3,260 respondents in Flanders. The other two, from 1999 and 2004, were collected by pen and paper, involving 1,474 and 1,780 respondents respectively. All respondents were aged between 18 and 75, recording their use of time for a whole week.

Who does what?

Discover all these fantastic possibilities at tijdsonderzoek.be. The table generator provides a structured way of seeing how much time the average Fleming spends at work, domestic duties, childcare, personal care, social participation, leisure time and travel.
